Q: Welcome! Congratulations on your recent single “Shake This”! Can you introduce yourself to our readers?
A: Sasha Perendes..the “Cuban from Kansas”!
Q: What inspired you to become a musician?
A: I always knew I wanted to be a singer, with early childhood influences from Disney to Donna Summer. Debbie Harry to Demi Lovato! But my parents were most supportive of my dream to succeed at it.
Q: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
A: The music my Producer D. Lawrence and I do infuse traditional live acoustic instruments, with contemporary MIDI underscoring that always conveys not just meaningful lyrics, but the groove..and definitely quality.
Q: Can you tell us about the recording process for “Shake This”?
A: Shake This is the result of my producer D. Lawrence and I decided to create an anthem about letting go and setting yourself free from all that’s dragging you down. Don’t want to be “Down,” Just Shake This, … “UP.” Was extremely liberating in the studio from beginning to end.
Q: What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your music career so far?
A: An unwillingness of others to accept conveying my own feelings through my songs. I sing who-I-am, and I feel that by doing that, maybe others will see and hear something that hits home for them, and find a little bit of therapy in the music.
Q: Who would be your ultimate dream collaboration with, and why?
A: Are you kidding; everyone.. from Adele to Ariana and back.
Q: What inspires you the most to write your songs?
A: Experiences through relationships; good and bad. My role model parents and their support inspires me most.
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
A: Never let go of your dreams. Push and Push til YOU think you’re done. Then Push some more.
Q: Can you tell us about any upcoming projects or collaborations?
A: My Producer and I have a whole treasure chest of songs, followup & additional Hot singles that are ready for release, as well as live performances now being set to cover the next few months.
