An Interview With Gianni from the “Walk off the Earth” band

Q: Welcome! Congratulations on your recent JUNO Award! Can you introduce yourself to our readers?

A: Hello, Gianni here! I’m one of the members of the multi-platinum and Juno Award-winning band Walk off the Earth.

Q: How would you describe your sound to someone who’s not heard your music
before?

A: Our sound is a fusion of indie pop, folk, and world music influences, with a strong emphasis on melody, harmony, and rhythm. It’s upbeat, energetic, and often has a positive, feel-good vibe that’s infectious and fun!

Q: You recently released your new single with Lauv ‘’ My Stupid Heart ”, can you tell us
what the song is about?

A: My Stupid Heart is about naively jumping back into a past relationship thinking things will be different this time around. Your desire is to feel a sense of familiarity and comfort but it’s ripped away as you are quickly reminded why you left the relationship in the first place. We’ve all been there, and we want this song to be an anthem for those that are all too familiar with the feeling of having a stupid heart.

Q: How did the Romeo Eats project come about?

A: When Romeo was 2 years old we noticed that he had an insatiable appetite and passion for all kinds of food! The second he started eating solid foods we wanted to nurture that side of him. Over time we did a lot of Instagram stories of Romeo eating different foods that most kids would run from and our audience loved it and kept asking
for more! From there we decided to create a show called ‘Romeo Eats’ based around his passion for food, trying all the healthy, interesting, and obscure foods we could get our hands on! Each episode is also completed with an original song produced by Walk off the Earth, which features the food in each episode!

Q: What inspires you the most to write your songs?

A: I’m inspired by life experiences, relationships, and our fans. When a song connects with our fans in meaningful ways it’s always the best feeling.

Q: Who would be your ultimate dream collaboration with, and why?

A: “Weird Al” Yankovic because he’s a legend and UHF is the greatest movie of all time!

Q: If there’s one song from your catalog that you wish everyone in the world could listen
to, which one would it be?

A: Our new release ‘My Stupid Heart’!

Q: What do you have planned for the year ahead?

A: We are hitting the road on tour this summer and have some Canadian dates set for May 6th in Calgary, May 12th in Windsor, and June 3rd we will be back performing in Toronto at Budweiser Stage, which is always a really fun show! August we will be touring in the US with Lindsey Stirling which will be a blast! You can head to our website
for tickets and find a show near you! https://tour.walkofftheearth.com/. We are also going to release our next album sometime this summer!
