Q: Welcome! Can you introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi! I’m Abbey Wood and I’m an alternative pop artist based in Los Angeles
Q: You recently released your new single ” With A Ghost ” can you tell us what the song is about?
With A Ghost is about being in a relationship with someone who is physically there but not emotionally there anymore. One person is fully engaged while the other has checked out. This wasn’t always the case, but it comes to a point where you have to decide whether it’s worth it to keep trying or to let that person go if your needs aren’t being met.
Q: What inspirations do you take when writing your music?
My inspiration is usually from my own life experiences or the experiences of others. With A Ghost started as just an idea, but then slowly I realized I was writing about my current relationship at the time. Life imitates art sort of feeling.
Q: Who are your current favorite new artists?
I just got into Ethel Cain a couple of weeks ago, and I can’t stop listening to the album Preacher’s Daughter. It’s such a vulnerable, raw, and captivating album. I also started listening to Caroline Polachek this week. I wasn’t familiar with her music before, but I’m really enjoying a lot of the songs from her latest album.
Q: Who would your dream collaboration be with, and why?
I would love to collaborate with Tove Lo! She’s an amazing songwriter, artist, and visionary. She’s such an underrated pop artist in my opinion, and she’s one of the only artists I can listen to each album front to back without ever getting jaded. Each album/visual she puts out just gets better and better. She’s not afraid to express herself and I love how her songs are vulnerable but fun and catchy!
Q: What does the rest of the year have in store for you?
Im prepping the release for my next single which is a pop punk track. It’s very different from “with a ghost,” very guitar-heavy, and a lot more high energy. I’m also writing with new artists in Los Angeles, so I’ll be releasing several singles throughout the year, a music video, and doing more live performances.
